AdSense = Contextual advertising by Google. Website publishers earn a portion of the advertising revenue for placing Google sponsored links on their site. See Google Adsense.
Affililate Program = A Web-based pay-for-performance program designed to compensate “affiliate” partner web sites for driving qualified leads or sales to a “merchant” web site. Typically, the merchant pays a percentage of any sales resulting from any click through (via banner or text link) to their Web site from an affiliate partner’s Web site. Service providers like Commission Junction help track and manage payments. For example, many blogs feature books the writer recommends and provides a link to Amazon for his readers to purchase the book… if they do, he gets a small cut of the sale.
AIS = Automated Income Stream, also referred to as a recurring revenue stream, or residual income.
Blackhat SEO= Search engine optimization by unethical means.
Whitehat SEO= Search engine optimization by ethical means.
Blog = A short form for weblog, a frequent and chronological publication of comments and thoughts on the web. They usually include philosophical reflections, opinions on the Internet and social or political issues.
EBook = Electronic book, sometimes presented as Ebook or EBook, the term refers to a book that is available in electronic format. Usually eBooks are available in Adobe PDF or eBook Reader format, or in Microsoft’s LIT format, but there are many other formats available. A good eBook uses the technology effectively, with tables of contents that link to the correct chapters and search capabilities. Links to Web sites, interactive content, and multimedia can be included.
Niche Marketing = Niche marketing is the process of finding small but potentially profitable market segments and designing custom-made products for them. Niche marketers are often reliant on the loyalty business model to maintain a profitable volume of sales.
PPC = Pay Per Click is model of Website inclusion where you pay an agreed amount every time a user clicks to your website through a Search Engine. Usually you buy the position you want to rank at, for a particular keyword or keywords and pay the Search Engine every time it generates a hit to your website.
RSS = Rich Site Summary or RDF [Resource Description Framework]. An XML format for sharing content among different Web sites such as news items. How does it work? A Web site can allow other sites to publish some of its content by creating an RSS document and registers the document with an RSS publisher. A web publisher can post a link to the rss feed so users can read the distributed content on his/her site.
SERP = Short for Search Engine Results Page. The page on the search engine’s website that displays the findings of a search query. Also know as Results Page.
SOE (Search Engine Optimization) = The term used to describe the marketing technique of preparing a website to enhance its chances of being ranked in the top results of a search engine once a relevant search is undertaken. A number of factors are important when optimising a website, including the content and structure of the website’s copy and page layout, the HTML meta-tags and the submission process.
Social Bookmarking - Social bookmarking is an activity performed over a computer network that allows users to save and categorize (see folksonomy) a personal collection of bookmarks and share them with others. Users may also take bookmarks saved by others and add them to their own collection, as well as to subscribe to the lists of others. - a personal knowledge management tool
Web Traffic = Web traffic is the amount of data sent and received by visitors to a web site. This is determined by the number of visitors and the number of pages they visit. Sites monitor the incoming and outgoing traffic to see which parts or pages of their site are popular and if there are any apparent trends, such as one specific page being viewed mostly by people in a particular country. …
