Everyone needs an MP3 Buddy!

I had a room-mate for years who was as passionate about music as I am, and we would spend hours trading songs that we loved, and letting various random deep conversations emerge. I miss those times.
Now… I’ve been exchanging emails with this unbelievably gorgeous girl in Beijing, China. WOW, is she hot. Anyhow, she’s got a boyfriend. Surprise. No problem, as she’s super cool and we both LOVE music. On February 14th, we explained to each other what would make our perfect Valentine’s Day. She said:
“My ideal Valentine’s evening would be; exotic food at some tucked away restaurant that only the true food-lovers would know about, complete with a few bottles of assorted wine. This will inevitably result in a rather drunk night, which we will take advantage of by going go-karting or some other random activity. As the alcohol wears off we’d go find some kind bud and get stoned in a park, lying in the grass, sharing music on each others MP3 players. Maybe talk about the meaning of life or world conspiracies.
That is ideal.”
I then thought “sharing music on each others MP3 players”… I miss sharing music really bad! I happen to have over 30,000 songs in just about every genre imaginable that I’ve collected over the past 10 years… and I just realize now how must I would love to throw amazing songs at someone… and talk about them. So I wrote:
“I think you are my MP3 trading buddy. I’ve been wanting a few of these, where we find a song we love - that speaks to us, we actually listen to it, feel the song, take it in, and write a spattering of thoughts in an email… attaching the MP3 for the other one to experience. Then the other replies, and sends another possibly related track, or changes the mood with a nice transition, etc…”
It’s simple. You can take a week or months if you want replying. Or if you’re compelled you can ping pong daily for a while. Build a mix tape with someone over emails, and try to make it as obscure & unique, and also engaging & emotional as possible.
Now go… Be gone… and try it!
Peace.
1 Second Google Home Video?

1 Second Video - Art?
The gap between photography and video is too great: 1 frame vs. thousands of frames with audio.
It might be interesting to create a new format of “1 Second Videos” which provide you a little more than a photograph? You capture people in action for a few seconds… a few seconds of downtown scene… a few seconds of fishing… a few seconds of eating dinner, etc. Would it be as fun as browsing through a photo album, to watch a bunch of these quick moments in life? We all know long family videos suck… but rich video snippets? Hmmmm…
