Both Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB Drives FAILED!
July 31, 2007 on 9:02 am | In Gadgets | 1 Comment
I’ve bought two of these drives now, and both have completely failed within the first few weeks of using them. DO NOT buy this drive! It is particularly tempting to get a 500GB drive for roughly $150 and consolidate/backup all of your data, but you WILL be sorry.
I suspect the drive fails for two reasons: (A) you have to “safely remove the hardware” everytime you turn off the computer or want to unplug the drive from the USB port to take it somewhere, and often Windows XP won’t let you “safely remove hardware”, so you are forced to unplug the USB cable, which drops the heads, (B) it is a large external hard drive, and if you drop it, even a few feet on carpet you will damage the heads and destroy the drive… yet it is a drive that is supposed to be portable and for carrying around.
Anyhow, it sucks trusting a drive, and then losing all of your data… especially twice. DON’T TRUST THIS DRIVE!
…and no I’m not alone. I found over 10 people posting here with failures as well.
I won’t ever trust Seagate again, after losing all of my data twice!

It’s got to be the next big thing! We sell custom one-of-a-kind alligator bed frames.
**Rattle Snake and Komodo Dragon bed frames coming soon.
PS: And where are Pirate Bed Frames, Viking Bed Frames, Unusual Bed Frames, Weird Bed Frames, Gothic Bed Frames, Satanic Bed Frames, Hank Hill Bed Frames, Weightless Bed Frames, Conniving Bed Frames, Edible Bed Frames?!
Seriously though… in my failed search for a unique bed frame, I did learn that the floating round bed is lame, and the floating magnet bed is the shit!

Alright, time for something new. Let’s check out the Craigslist API and see if it will allow us to suck down the images everyday and display them in some slick Image Browser that works on 99% of browsers and is a great way to browse furniture, etc… on Craigslist. Adsense under images, baby.
Or flickr, CafePress, or any APIs that are open to image sharing… it’s all about the most kick ass, simple, functional Image Browser around… that just links to sites that are hosting the images.
UPDATE: Ok, they did it over at Listpic.com!
