Expired Domains = Good Traffic
December 28, 2006 on 11:27 am | In SEO, Building Traffic | No Comments
I’ve been taught that buying expired domains is a moderately good alternative to advertising to gain traffic to your site. These sites already have traffic, and search engine rank, yet the owners gave them up.
You first head over to http://www.directnic.com/features/expireddomains.php and find domain names that have just expired. You then need to find out how much traffic each domain name was generating by going to Alexa.com, and buy only domain names that were ranked over the 100.000 rank on the internet. Generally the pages have been indexed and will be reindexed very fast on trhe next google dance.
You then should send traffic, buy a traffic package, a small one and point this package to your new domains landing page. Remember focus the traffic, it must be tageted and on topic with your site. If you have adsense on this page you will make money as well as get traffic. Now, supposedly this is one of the biggest secrets on the internet!
But, you should always consider the opposing view:
Why you should NOT purchase traffic:
RealityRealm.com Launches!
December 18, 2006 on 1:19 pm | In Web 2.0 | No Comments
A friend of mine launched RealityRealm.com this past month, which is the best friggin’ Reality TV & Celebrity Fan site in the universe! It’s actually quite impressive already, as they have a ton of shows, videos, forums, blogs, chat, the whole nine.
He’s even got a PR guy in Hollywood who is building up their MySpace page… and check out who is on their MySpace friend list! Talk about the Whose Who of Reality TV?! I’ve got a lot of faith in this guy to build a very kick ass community… check it out!
I’ve also been asked to let you all know about this:
WANTED: Moderators
RealityRealm.com is currently seeking hardcore Reality TV fans to be Moderators on our site. With over 250 reality shows, and currently only about 10 on our site, this is a huge opportunity to run your own show! You have the tools to post videos, news, oversee forums, and likely interview the celebrities on your show.
Add us as a friend on our MySpace Profile and then message us with your interest.
Cheers,
-Will

Where ShoeMoney makes his money…
December 12, 2006 on 10:00 pm | In Entrepreneurial | 1 Comment
I often wondered what businesses Jeremy Shoemaker (aka ShoeMoney) runs, as I’ve heard him mention having up to 5 distinct businesses. I decided to search and found an interview he did with SEOMOZ:
Ringtones WAS the sickest way to make money… I mean, I was throwing nickels to make $12-$22 conversions… AND converting at 10-15%. That is damn good ROI. I do have many other sites. I also do a lot with software and other stuff. I have sites (like dropload.com) which have over 4 million users. Also, we launched dropcash.com 2 years ago and it did really well right off the bat.
I also do software. I just launched a new product called SpaceLook, which is a application that handles all messaging and stuff with MySpace in a nice gui windows-based app.
I also own a company that does nothing but resell computers.
I also own a company that deals in importing exporting data cables for wireless phones.
So ya, I do more than ringtones
It’s just when something is really hot and SO EASY to make money from you can’t look the other way. Also, being I am a 3 person operation–1) business manager 1) shoemoney 1) dillsmack - my badass coder–we really have to focus.
