How to make $20 a day in 3 months?
June 29, 2006 on 11:08 pm | In Boosting Revenue | No Comments
Every once in a while, a newbie asks others on forums how to build a profitable adsense web site. Over at Digital Point Forums this question was asked this month, and there are a FEW good repllies… read through the whole post to get a rough idea of what others are doing… then join Digital Point and start reading… you’ve got a long way to go!
The highlights of the post are:
Create a good original article and aim to be on Digg homepage
Well, i’m making just over $100/day after 4 months, so i think i can answer you. I am basically a total n00b, but this worked for me:
Step 1) figure out what your site will be about - this should be something you know about or are passionate about (like your hobby) - do some research to see if it’s a money-maker, or of there is too much competition
Step 2) get a decent (cheap) webhost (mine is $6/month)
Step 3) build your site, paste in your adsense code
Step 4) spend every waking moment learning, reading EVERY post here at DP, and the ‘other’ big Webmaster forum - learn from what others have done, tweak your site, read and learn more, sleep for a while, learn more, read more posts, ask questions, and read more
Step 5) repeat step 4
Moral: there is NO easy “Step by step” way..
Now, OP: It’s possible to make $20/day with Adsense within 3 months, but you have to invest a lot of time and effort, and most importantly of all, pick a topic/theme/niche very carefully that you can devote a lot of time to nurturing. Don’t pick a mesotholemia site and slap Adsense on it like 5 billion other noobs out there. Pick something that you know, that you can work on for anywhere from 2 to 8 hours a day without it feeling like a chore. While you are constantly adding content, you should be SEOing your site, exchanging links with like-minded websites/webmasters, and slowly but surely building up your base. And of ourse, you will have already done everything humanly possible to get into all of the three major search engines.
Do all that, and you should be doing close to $20/day within 3 months. And of course, spend a lot of time on DP reading all the pitfalls and mistakes of other noobs so you can avoid them.

About creating content - one of the things is I plan to have like 20 - 40 articles writen a month; how do you think how many pages actually is necesarry to do good? will this be fair amounth of pages in 3 month time to drive any significant traffic?
(1) Increase traffic as much as you can. [most effective factor >
]
(2) Use google heat chart
(3) Just mix up the google ads with webpage content [look and feel wise]
(4) Put google ads on top portion of page
(5) Do some mathematics and find out which format of ads is bringing more money and from which page, and apply the best combination.
SEO’d for some very popular search terms. I actually stumbled into it by accident. I noticed in my logs i was getting hits from Google for a few particular terms - when i checked my SERPs for those terms, i was on page 10 or 20, but i started working on those keywords/phrases since they seemed to have a head start, and after about 30-45 days I was on page 1 in the SERPS.. 30 days after that, i’m number 1-5 on some of those search terms.. There are a few other ’secrets’ that i have - i’m considering making an ebook with my “secret SEO sauce” and selling it for $5 - would anyone be interested?
BTW, since school has let out, i’m down to only about 2,100-2,300 uniques per day.. and my earnings are down from my peak of $147/day to averaging $40-$75 day.. I guess i wont be quitting my day job as soon as i’d hoped, but i’m still very pleased to be making this much after only 5 months!
Create a website that will be ‘buzz’ worthy. I like entertainment type sites and include easy ways for visitors to tell their friends about your site. You want to find ways to make your site viral and also give people a reason to return. Just build your site up like this and you will get to the point where growth happens without your efforts.
