MicroPayment Blogs!?

The name reminds me of India, which in terms of the internet resonanates with cheap, so I’m already not liking it. Sorry India… not your fault, just the way it works. I know there are a lot of very advanced internet engineers in India.
Anyhow, IndieKarma is an interesting micropayment idea, but I see two obvious reasons it will struggle.
1. Why Pay? It expects people to pay 1 cent for each blog they read, when blogs are free right now. I don’t care if it is 1 cent, what is the point in messing around with this, when I can surf crappy blogs all day for free.
2. No attraction. IndiaKarma isn’t already known for their network of great blogs. It seems more likely that micropayments will be introduced by an existing network, such as audible.com’s audio books, eBooks.com, etc…

I did a search on Google for all sites referencing one of my domains, and found out my host, HostGator, had me on a list of new domains, along with 90-something others.
If someone isn’t on this, it is an interesting idea. In fact, that young entrepreneur at http://www.sitespin.net/ could add a FRESH SPIN which sent you to sites launched this week.
In any event, there is some value in checking out what is fresh. no matter how raw it is.

David Cowgill is aggregating RSS w/ Adsense
April 6, 2006 on 3:38 pm | In Internet Marketing, SEO | No CommentsI’ve found out that this guy at Saleforce.com, David Cowgill, has about five blogs where he aggregates information and is getting PAID Google Adsense dollars. It doesn’t appear that he is giving credit to the sources, as there are no links to contributors, and this seems to be a gray area. Hmmm.. is that truly a copyright violation, since he is profiting off other’s work? If he were linking back to them, I can see how he would be providing them a service by driving traffic to the source, at a small cost, that they don’t even pay… seems fair to me.
